4A molecular sieves

Typical chemical formula of 4A molecular sieves is Na2O . Application of 13X molecular sieves :

13X molecular sieves often applied for removal of CO2 and moisture from air and other gases, and Separate enriched oxygen from air.  13X molecular sieve can used in the production of bulk oxygen in PSA units and medical oxygen in small scale oxygen concentrators, and 13X molecular sieves often applied for removal of mercaptans and hydrogen sulphide from natural gas and removal of n-chained compositions from aromatics.

Regeneration:

Molecular sieves 13X can be regenerated by either heating in the case of thermal swing processes or by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure swing processes. For removing moisture from a 13X molecular sieve, a temperature of 250-300°C is required. A properly regenerated molecular sieve can give moisture dew points below -100°C, or mercaptan or CO2 levels below 2 ppmv. The outlet concentrations on a pressure swing process will depend on the gas present, and on the conditions of the process

5A molecular sieves

The typical chemical formula of 5A molecular sieves is 0.7 CaO . 0.3 Na2O . Al2O3 . 2 SiO2 . 4.5H2O .  It’s an alkali metal alumino-silicate, in the calcium form of the Type A crystal structure. 5A molecular sieves has an effective pore opening of  5 angstroms (0.5 nm). Molecular sieve 5A will adsorb molecules with a kinetic diameter of less than 5 Angstrom and exclude those larger.
